Music Composition/Mixing

Growing up, while most of my peers listened to rock or rap music, my interest lay in orchestral cinematic and game scores.  To this day, my music library consists of nearly 9000 individual tracks, all of which are in these two genres.  I don’t only hear orchestral music, I feel it.  Whenever I hear a piece of music I recognize, whether it be from a movie or a game, I can instantly recall the scene in which the music plays in vivid detail.

To me, a game’s score is nearly as important as its storyline, as it can set the tone and mood of a scene better than any visual.  Choosing the right piece of music for each part of a game is crucial to a game’s success, as the wrong choice can destroy an otherwise outstanding game.  Conversely, a not-so-good game can be greatly strengthened with the appropriate soundtrack.

I started composing music at the age of 14.  I specialize in cinematic orchestral pieces that are reminiscent of traditional film scores.  I believe in following the footsteps of legendary composers such as Jerry Goldsmith and Howard Shore whose scores often show that less can be more.  To me, what matters is not how complex a musical piece sounds, but instead how much emotion it delivers.  It is with that philosophy in mind that I compose my music.

My works include several musical tracks in all of my games, the score to the feature-length fan film How You Live, and the soundtrack to the independent adventure game The Arrangement by Michael B. Clark.

To compose and mix my scores, I currently use a combination of software, which includes:  Cakewalk Sonar, Adobe Audition, Edirol Orchestral Software Synthesizer, EWQLSO Silver Software Synthesizer, and Miroslav Philharmonik Software Synthesizer.
